Start the 2027 competition season in Music City!

On March 19–20, 2027, Smoke on the Shores will return to Nashville (Lebanon, Tennessee) with a 125-team professional BBQ competition and a 50-team backyard BBQ competition, both sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). Smoke on the Shores brings together top pitmasters in a premier competition that celebrates the craft of championship barbecue. Our mission is to deliver an unforgettable event that fosters camaraderie, showcases barbecue excellence, and supports meaningful causes.

KCBS Professional BBQ Competition ($275)

Professional BBQ teams from across the United States will compete in four categories: ribs, chicken, pork, and brisket. Teams will compete for prize money totaling more than $10,000.

KCBS Backyard BBQ Competition ($200)

The backyard competition is a three-meat competition featuring chicken, ribs, and pork. We expect 50 backyard teams from around the country to compete for a $5,000 prize purse.

KCBS Friday Night Challenges ($100)

Friday night features the Allegiance Rib Challenge and Springer Mountain Farms Chicken Challenge. Each competition offers $1,500 in prize money. Professional and backyard teams are welcome, and active KCBS teams earn Team of the Year points.
