springer mountain farms Chicken challenge
Smoke on the Shores BBQ Championship will be held on March 20–21, 2026. This KCBS-sanctioned competition will feature both professional and backyard teams from across the country. The event kicks off Friday night with a Springer Mountain Farms Chicken Challenge, offering $1,500 in cash and prizes. KCBS members will earn points toward Chicken Team of the Year, and the winner will receive an invitation to compete in the Chicken Finals at the KCBS World Invitational. All competitors must provide their own meat and pass a mandatory meat inspection

*We are required to file 1099 forms with the Internal Revenue Service for the 2026 tax year for all teams receiving more than $600 in cash/prizes. Each team will be required to complete the 1099 forms prior to receiving funds.
*The entry fee covers both Friday and Saturday night stays. Teams wishing to arrive early will incur an additional fee per night. All teams are welcome to stay on Saturday night and depart on Sunday morning.
